Byte by Byte to My Cyber Journey
ByteHerWay Story

I was in high school when our school got funding to set up a small computer lab. We could only use it for one hour every two weeks under a teacher’s supervision. I still remember the wonder I felt when I first touched a computer. I was amazed by the endless possibilities, especially when I discovered the internet and realised how it could break down barriers and connect me to the world.
At the time, technology was limited, and I had to convince my dad to buy a second-hand computer. After much debate, we finally got one. Setting it up was a challenge, especially dealing with dial-up internet, which often interrupted my mum’s phone calls. Despite the frustrations, I was thrilled. I even created my first email address, independentgirl@yahoo.com, which felt like a symbol of empowerment. This inspired me to study telecommunication engineering and learn how the Internet, global networks, and IT work.

But over time, the internet has changed. It’s not the same exciting place it once was, with so many threats and vulnerabilities that can harm people online. As someone who values the power of connection, I want to help protect it.

I've worked hard to learn and pursue opportunities in the cybersecurity field. ByteHerWay.com is the continuation of that independent girl, now focused on becoming a cybersecurity professional. Through this platform, I share my journey, hoping to inspire and motivate others as I work towards my goals in the industry.
